Each year at the end of summer, Florida A & M University opens its gates to the public and hosts a day in the vineyard. Its nearly 50 acres of vines, located east of Tallahassee on Highway 90, are a great place to learn about how vintners put grapes into bottles for the rest of us to enjoy.

Over the years, a number of new grape varieties have been created here at the university’s Center for Viticulture and Small Fruit Research, and studies into making grapes more disease resistant as well as flavorful take place year round. But one Saturday a year, the Center offers a variety of family-friendly activities that are both fun and educational.

This year, the Festival is scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Eastern Time) in the vineyards located behind the Center. Over 3000 people are expected to attend and events include a grape stomping competition, grape tasting, and a 5K vineyard run.
